Handmade Marathon

The original Handmade Marathon concept  featured 26 unique handmade products and the creative minds behind those handmade products (one for each of the 26 miles of a marathon).

Why a "marathon"? In November, 2012 I was prepared to accomplish a life dream - to run the New York City Marathon.  As we now know, the marathon was cancelled, and my dream took a very different turn (I ran my own marathon upon returning home).

Many marathoners raise money and run for charity (an amazing way to honour charities) but I wanted to do something to raise awareness around supporting handmade business.

I believe in supporting handmade.  Why?

(+) Supporting handmade means supporting someone's dreams
(+) Owning or gifting something unique, beautiful and made from quality products
(+) Supporting a small business and helping that business thrive

The spirit of the Handmade Marathon continues.  I regularly feature unique handmade products that I feel embody the spirit of "thoughtful gifting".  If you would like your products to be considered for a feature, please visit the submissions page.
