Handmade Marathon - Day #14 (j. Frances Design)

Editor's Note:

Welcome to DAY FOURTEEN of the Handmade Marathon.

This submission sold me when I read about how Jillian makes molds of antique buttons and and reproduces them in silver as part of her jewelry designs.  Be sure to check out her shop, which features a wide variety of interesting designs.

About j. Frances Design

I started my hand-crafted jewelry business, j. Frances Design, in 2009 as a creative outlet after moving to central Iowa from my hometown in North-eastern Pennsylvania. I had been making jewelry for years and always considered myself an artist and a maker, but I had never sold anything before. I opened my Etsy shop, started a blog, and made an effort to learn everything I could about running a small creative business. j. Frances jewelry has evolved over the last few years. I focus on incorporating high quality materials into my limited and one-of-a-kind designs, including semi-precious stones, vintage beads, and sterling silver. Lately, I've been making molds of antique buttons and reproducing them in fine silver to incorporate into my designs. When I'm not making jewelry, I'm pursuing my masters in Interior Design and working on design projects for my clients here in Des Moines.

  1. Gorgeous jewelry and amazing photography!

  2. Jillian,
Making your own molds of antique buttons and reproducing them in fine silver to incorporate into your designs sounds pretty cool.
Congrats on being part of the handmade marathon too.
