Our office usually holds a "Secret Santa" and I always find it so difficult to pick something out when you don't know WHO is going to receive your gift. Dealing with a gift for a potential wide-variety of age ranges, men & women with all different tastes usually leaves me scrambling.
My personal preference is to bake something yummy BUT there are so many different food preferences/allergies/likes/dislikes it's just impossible to navigate. Plus, everyone is always dieting.
Although I will state it now: I LOVE receiving something home baked/made). Am I the minority here?
Sometimes. Sometimes the safest and easiest thing to do is to go with a gift card.
But that doesn't mean you can't spice up the gift card into something unique and thoughtful!
I previous wrote a post about creatively wrapping a gift card. Here are some more ideas!
Balloon gift card surprise! I previously did this with a Valentine a few (ok, quite a few) years back and was recently re-inspired by this balloon invitation post at Happiness Is...

2. Purchase a helium balloon (from the dollar store, minimal extra cost!)
3. Tie a gift card to the end of the string
4. When the box is opened, the balloon will float out, revealing the gift card.
If you are a little bit crafty, and have really basic sewing skills, I LOVE these beautiful gift card "cozies" made with scraps of fabric and some interfacing found on Make it and Love it.
ok, and seriously. I found this on Pinterest, my favourite source for inspiration. A gift card snow globe. Can you imagine how cool it would be to receive this? A boring old gift card, totally jazzed up for the holidays!! The full tutorial is on The Creative Mama.
The most common question in the tutorial comments is: does the water damage the gift card? Apparently this has been tested for up to 1 week with fully working gift cards at the end.
Are you more inclined to give or spice up a gift card after reading this post?
I know I am!

I love these ideas! Co-workers are definitely a tricky buy! I really want a gift card snow globe now...I feel that a Starbucks card would be very appropriate! Have you seen there holiday decor this year? Lots of snowflakes:)
