Thoughtful Gift Giving

As a child growing up, receiving a package wrapped in brown paper from "away" relatives was a magical moment.  In our house, we had a whole ritual around opening the package.  It would sit on the dining room table for a while, and we would open it together as a family.

I'm starting this blog because I feel like so much of the magic of gift-giving has been lost.  In a time of e-cards and cash gifts, I still mail cards and packages, and think about creative and repurposed gift wrap.

So much of gift giving seems to be about keeping up appearances and less thought towards the person receiving the gift.  Will it mean something to the person in a year? 10 years? Will they remember your gift?

The Petit Cadeau will explore unique, thoughtful, handmade, homemade gifts, cards, wrapping and other gift-related ideas for all ages.

Stay tuned!

  1. This is a fantastic blog idea, Alison! I'm the same as you in that I love sending brown paper packages as gifts and take the time to get something thoughtful. There's nothing better than getting the same in return! I will be checking your blog out regularly! :D
